CNC CO2 Laser Service
Capabilities
Our 80 watt CNC CO2 laser -- with an approximately 15 inch by 23 inch working area -- can cut, etch, or engrave complex designs and shapes onto various materials.
The wavelength of a CO2 laser is capable of burning designs into or cutting through many different materials, but is not able to engrave or cut metal.
Instead of engraving, many metals can be etched using a special mica coating which is activated with the heat of the laser. This creates a dark, incredibly strong bond with the surface of the metal which has a durability which is similar to anodized aluminum. This is an inexpensive method of creating very intricate and very durable designs on a variety of metalic surfaces. Because we can't cut out the metal with our CNC CO2 laser, the shape of the base metal can instead be altered using our CNC plasma cutting service. To the left you can see an example of an aluminum disc golf tag that was cut out with our CNC plasma cutter and etched with our CNC CO2 laser.
For other materials, our CNC CO2 laser is very capable of cutting or burning intricate designs directly into or through the material. Cutting or engraving wood, leather, or plastic is a very common use, as well as etching logos or letters into the surface of glass.
